Manchester United’s pursuit of Viktor Gyokeres has hit a setback, with the Swedish striker preferring a move to Arsenal due to their Champions League status, according to Fabrizio Romano.

United are actively reinforcing their attack and recently secured Matheus Cunha from Wolves for £62.5 million.
They’re also targeting Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo.
However, their only recognized strikers remain Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee, who scored just seven Premier League goals between them last season.
Gyokeres, who netted an astonishing 39 goals in 33 Primeira Liga appearances for Sporting, had been identified as a key target by former boss Ruben Amorim.
But the £68 million-rated striker has now communicated his desire to join Arsenal, reports Give Me Sport.
“Viktor Gyokeres remains a priority, and his priority remains Arsenal,” Romano said.
“He never rejected Manchester United, but told them he wants Champions League football at Arsenal.”
Arsenal, meanwhile, are also in need of a reliable forward.
Injuries to Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus exposed their lack of depth up front, making Gyokeres an attractive option.
With Benjamin Sesko also on Arsenal’s radar, United’s hopes of signing a top striker may rest on Arteta’s next move, one that could leave them scrambling.
