Unexpected conflict has been created between FC Barcelona and the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) as a result of Lamine Yamal shocking absence from Spain’s national team camp.
What was initially intended to be a quiet international break swiftly descended into turmoil when the RFEF expressed surprise at the medical information received from Barcelona on the teenager’s condition.
Shortly after joining Spain’s squad, Yamal—who received radiofrequency treatment for his pubic discomfort—was released.
The two parties got into a heated argument after the federation made a public statement expressing their “astonishment.”

Barcelona defended their own side of the story, stressing that the player’s best interests were fully served by the decision to continue treatment, which was made after a medical consultation with an external Belgian specialist.
De la Fuente Gives Reasons For Yamal Call-Up
According to Barca Universal, Luis de la Fuente, the head coach of Spain, made the decision to discuss the matter in detail amid the escalating controversy. He gave an explanation when questioned about Yamal call-up.
“I make a call-up based on the player’s performance in previous matches.
“In this case, I’m calling up Lamine because he’s played three 90-minute matches, which indicates that he’s in perfect condition.
“We always certify through medical services that the players are healthy. There is a protocol that if a player has discomfort, he comes in for tests and then has to go home.
“Sometimes it is done, and sometimes it is not. Always, now and in the past, we prioritise the health of the player.”
