Arne Slot reportedly travelled to France to discuss with Lyon midfielder, Rayan Cherki about the prospects of joining Liverpool in the summer transfer window.
With eight goals and 11 assists in Ligue 1, as well as four goals and eight assists in the Europa League, Cherki has been Lyon’s lucky charm this season.
The French team must, however, consider offers for the 21-year-old this summer due to their financial issues.
Following Kevin De Bruyne’s departure, Pep Guardiola is eager to add more creativity to his midfield, which is why Manchester City have already held lengthy negotiations to recruit Cherki.

Cherki, who received his first senior call-up for France ahead of their Nations League semi-final matchup with Spain on Thursday, has also been linked to moves from Manchester United and Liverpool.
The Athletic claims that last week, Slot took time off from his vacation to meet with Cherki in the south of France.
According to the article, Slot had discussions with Cherki prior to Liverpool stepping up their pursuit of Florian Wirtz, a midfielder for Bayer Leverkusen.
However, it is believed that City are “hopeful” that they can sign Cherki.
Lyon are said to be asking for at least €40 million for the 21-year-old.
Cherki was questioned about how he would adjust if he joined either City or Liverpool in an interview with L’Equipe this week.
“I’m ready for any system. I work every day, physically and mentally, to be ready,” Cherki said.
“Above all, I’m trying to choose the best option for me, to develop as a person and a footballer.”
