Slot Told ‘Classless’ Act Ignited Liverpool’s Slump

Liverpool will play PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League on Wednesday night in an attempt to recover from yet another setback.

Following their devastating 3-0 home loss to Nottingham Forest on Saturday, the defending Premier League champions are now in the bottom half of the table and have all but given up on winning the championship.

It was their second consecutive 3-0 thrashing and their sixth loss in seven league games.

Arne Slot needs to quickly reverse this concerning decline in order to avoid losing what appeared to be an unassailable position just weeks ago.

Scholes Blames Liverpool Poor Form On Slot’s ‘Classless’ Ibiza Trip

According to the Mirror, Paul Scholes denounced Arne Slot’s end-of-season trip to Ibiza as “classless” and “disrespectful,” speculating that Liverpool’s demise this season may be related to the laid-back mentality that seemed to rule the team at the time.

Despite Liverpool still having two games left in the 2024–25 season, the Dutch manager caused controversy in May when he was spotted in a DJ booth on the Spanish island.

Manchester United legend Scholes was scathing in his assessment of Slot’s behaviour on The Good, The Bad, and The Football podcast.

He said: “I think this [Liverpool’s poor form] started towards the end of last season. Remember when they won the league? The bad form started.

“They went away, weren’t they in Ibiza or something? Arne Slot was DJing. Yeah, he was DJing in Ibiza. I think that’s disrespectful. Before the season’s done, I think it’s classless, that.”
