Liverpool head coach, Arne Slot has reportedly acknowledged that games are not ‘a joy to watch’ and stated his dislike for the current level of Premier League football.
Set-pieces are more crucial than ever In the top level; this season, leaders Arsenal have made extensive use of them.
Earlier in the season, Slot’s team struggled with this, which resulted in the dismissal of set-piece coach Aaron Briggs.
Since then, the Premier League champions have had to adapt their playing style, and they have done so. No team in the league has more non-penalty set-piece goals than the Reds.

In Saturday’s 5-2 victory over West Ham, Liverpool scored three goals from corners, all in the first half. Slot is continuing to follow Mikel Arteta’s lead as the Merseyside outfit look to turn things around.
The Dutchman is not a fan, even though he has demonstrated a willingness to modify his strategy to fit the league this season.
What Slot Said About The Extensive Use Of Set-Pieces
According to the Daily Mail, in his pre-match press conference for Tuesday’s clash with Wolves, Slot said: “You have to accept it. I think it’s mainly here in the Premier League.
“If I watch other leagues, I don’t think there’s so much emphasis on set-pieces.
“If I watch an Eredivisie game, which I still do, I see goals being disallowed and fouls on goalkeepers being given and I think ‘wow, that’s a big difference’. Here, you can almost hit a goalkeeper in his face and the referee still says ‘just go on’.
“Do I like it? My football heart doesn’t like it. If you ask me about football, I think about the Barcelona team from 10, 15 years ago. Every Sunday evening you were hoping they would play.”
