Arne Slot did not address whether Liverpool will permit Trent Alexander-Arnold to play in the June Club World Cup with Real Madrid, but he did acknowledge that the defender is expected to join Los Blancos this summer.
Alexander-Arnold said that leaving his boyhood club at the conclusion of the season was the “hardest decision of my life” when he made the announcement on Monday. However, the 26-year-old has not yet disclosed where he will play in the upcoming season.
The fact that Alexander-Arnold is headed to the Bernabeu is the worst-kept secret in the game, but it’s still unclear when he will meet his new team.
Although the England international’s contract does not expire until the end of June, his final game for Liverpool is scheduled for May 25.

Real Madrid will play in the Club World Cup, with the first match is scheduled for June 18, 13 days before Alexander-Arnold’s contract at Anfield expires.
Therefore, discussions are still going on to see whether an agreement can be reached to let him depart early, but no information has surfaced as of yet.
According to Liverpool FC, when asked about the situation on Friday, ahead of the Arsenal game, Slot cheekily replied: “Do you know where he is going? He hasn’t said anything about it himself.
“All he has said is that he is going to leave the club. For me it is impossible to comment on where he is going or if that is a club that is going to play in the Club World Cup.
“You see in my smile that we both know where he is going to, but it hasn’t been said yet. That’s impossible for me to comment on.”
