Slot Makes Weird Tactical Claim Following Liverpool Wins Over Aston Villa, Real Madrid

Liverpool head coach, Arne Slot recently stated that it helps him when his opponents play the way he expects.

With Liverpool now losing four Premier League games and conceding 14 goals, the Dutch coach has found it difficult to match the impressive start he made at Anfield last season.

In contrast to how they set up during his first few months in charge, Slot has talked about teams altering their playing approach against his club multiple times this season.

According to Caught Offside, the Reds manager bizarrely appears to still believe that this is a problem ahead of the forthcoming match against Manchester City.

“It wasn’t a surprise for me how both games (against Villa and Madrid) went. It was helpful for us that the team did what we expected them to do,” Slot said in his press conference this morning.

“Because in eight out of the ten games I think we’ve played this season, we faced a different playing style than all the games these teams played before.

“But Villa and Real Madrid did what we could expect and I think that’s always helpful.”

If your opponents play to your strengths, it will be easier, but it won’t happen very frequently, especially if you acknowledge that having to adjust to the unexpected essentially makes life difficult for you.
