Slot Advised To Bench Liverpool Star Whose ‘Legs Have Gone’

Alexis Mac Allister should be benched because he is not the same midfield player that led Liverpool to Premier League success last season.

Jermaine Pennant, a former Reds winger, thinks the 2022 World Cup winner should be benched after his poor performances this season.

His performance in Sunday’s 2-1 loss to Manchester City drew special criticism.

Mac Allister was largely at fault for Bernardo Silva’s equaliser and was caught ball watching in the sequence that led to City’s penalty which was subsequently executed by Erling Haaland.

His displays lately have been nowhere near what he was pulling up in last season’s title-winning campaign, where he was one of Liverpool’s finest performers.

Pennant has commented on the 27-year-old’s performances this season, which has further highlighted his decline.

Mac Allister Is A ‘Bystander For Liverpool’ – Pennant

According to talkSPORT, following Sunday’s loss, Pennant took to X to discuss the player’s recent form downturn and called him a ‘passenger’ in games.

“I was watching the game and I was frustrated and I tweeted, I don’t really tweet that much, but I was angry. It was constructive angry,” Pennant said.

“Basically what I touched on was, ‘Listen, we love you [Mac Allister], you’ve been a great player for Liverpool, you’ve been a great player, you are a great player, you were in the Team of the Season.’
