Sir Jim Ratcliffe Flies In For Talks With Amorim Following Twist On His Future

Manchester United minority stakeholder, Sir Jim Ratcliffe has reportedly flown into Manchester for talks with Ruben Amorim.

Following United’s worst start to a season in Premier League history, the Portuguese manager is facing increasing pressure at Old Trafford. In November 2024, Amorim was appointed as the first appointment of the new regime, succeeding Erik ten Hag.

However, United had their worst season since their relegation in 1974, finishing in a miserable 15th place in the league last campaign.

Furthermore, Amorim hasn’t done much to persuade people that United’s problems from the previous season have been resolved.

According to The Athletic, Ratcliffe arrived at the club’s Manchester base via helicopter for meetings, including with the under-pressure head coach.

Insiders have maintained that rather than being crisis talks, the meeting with Amorim had been scheduled for a long time. Ratcliffe, however, will undoubtedly be thinking about United’s dismal start to the new campaign despite supporting the manager with more than £215 million during the summer transfer window.

Amorim welcomed a new front three following the arrival of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Sesko this season.

It hasn’t been an easy start, though, as Sesko has been gradually acclimated to the demands of English football while Cunha sustained an injury against Burnley.

Amorim has a crucial three-game window that might decide his future, according to reports earlier this week.

Grimsby shockingly eliminated United from the Carabao Cup last month, and the Red Devils have only secured four points from four league games this season.
