Newcastle legend Alan Shearer has weighed in on the uncertainty surrounding striker Alexander Isak’s future amid Liverpool’s growing interest.

Isak, who scored 27 goals last season, was absent from Newcastle’s pre-season Asia tour, reportedly due to a minor thigh injury.
However, Shearer expressed skepticism over that explanation, calling the club’s statement “ridiculous” and urging transparency about Isak’s status and intentions.
He believes the striker wants a move and says Eddie Howe must do everything possible to convince him to stay another season.
Speaking with Betfair, Shearer said Isak has helped the club lift silverware and deserves honesty in handling transfer speculation.
He added that if Newcastle cannot keep Isak, they must secure the best possible deal, potentially over £150 million.
With Liverpool reportedly preparing a record-breaking bid, Shearer stressed that “no player is bigger than the football club.”
The Magpies insist Isak is not for sale, but his omission from the tour has intensified rumors of an imminent departure, reports Daily Star.
Howe had previously confirmed Isak would be part of the Asia trip, which makes the injury claim more questionable to some.
Shearer concluded that while it’s a tough situation, fans and the player deserve clarity rather than misleading public statements.
