Saliba Creates History On 100th Premier League Appearance

William Saliba created history following his 100th Premier League appearance in Arsenal’s 1-0 victory over Newcastle United on Sunday.

On the first day of the 2022–2023 season, the Frenchman made his debut for the Gunners against Crystal Palace. Since then, he has won 68 games to become the club’s 71st Premier League centurion.

According to the club’s website, Saliba now shares the top spot with Sol Campbell and Lauren in terms of the most victories they have had in their first 100 league games for Arsenal in the club’s 138-year existence.

Three years ago, William preserved a clean sheet on that night at Selhurst Park, and it would be the first of many.

The Gunners only conceded every 109 minutes on average when the Frenchman is on the field, which is another divisional high over the previous three seasons.

Since his Premier League debut, no player in the division has kept more cleansheet than him, and only 81 have been conceded during that time.

The 23-year-old is ranked fourth in the competition’s list of players with the best win ratios in the Premier League, and only his regular central defense partner Gabriel has won more games throughout his time as Arsenal aim to secure a third consecutive second-place finish.

Saliba also recorded a special club stat against the Magpies. All 100 of his league appearances so far have come as a starter, meaning he has become the first outfielder to accomplish a century since his fellow countryman William Gallas, who reached 101 in total.
