Ruben Amorim Must Make An Impossible Decision For Manchester United This Week Following Fulham Draw

After 292 appearances, 98 goals, and 86 assists, has Bruno Fernandes achieved the pinnacle of his role at Manchester United?

Many people struggled to understand why United would cash in on Fernandes this summer, despite substantial interest from Saudi Arabia. Offloading your best player after finishing 15th in the Premier League would have raised concerns, regardless of the transfer sum offered.

However, Ruben Amorim’s transfer transaction has left his captain in a position that is both damaging to the individual and to the team.

Fernandes’ 19 goals and 19 assists in 57 games during the disaster-filled 2024/25 season served as a reminder of his offensive prowess. Reported by Express News.

The Portuguese maestro has undeniably been one of the Premier League’s faces since his arrival in 2020.

But, as United appears to enter a new era both on and off the pitch under the leadership of INEOS and Amorim, it may be time for a change of guard.

Fernandes performed poorly in Sunday’s 1-1 tie against Fulham. The cherry on top was his first-half penalty, which brought a halt to a record of 11 consecutive successful spot kicks.

He expressed anger with imprecise passing and questionable decision-making as United’s midfield duo fought to win yet another key duel.

This should come as no surprise. Fernandes and Casemiro, both 63 years old, must cover a large amount of ground at the heart of Amorim’s 3-4-3 formation.

United sorely need an athletic midfielder to pair with Fernandes. Their interest in Carlos Baleba of Brighton & Hove Albion demonstrated that they are aware of this.

Casemiro is too old, and Manuel Ugarte is not good enough. So what about Kobbie Mainoo? He has played zero minutes in the first two Premier League games.
