Roy Keane believes Eddie Howe should take over as Manchester United manager.
ESPN reports that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Michael Carrick have discussed an interim position after Ruben Amorim was fired, while Darren Fletcher led the club against Burnley on Wednesday.
However, club veteran Keane has identified Newcastle United manager Howe as the ideal permanent option at Old Trafford.
“I would go with Eddie Howe. I like him and what he’s done. “He has managed many games,” Keane told Sky Sports.

“His teams play excellent football. I understand it’s not for everyone, and he has detractors, but I admire what he’s done at Newcastle and Bournemouth.
“He has played 700 or 800 games, and he is still a young man.” I appreciate his tranquility. Manchester United could use some of that.
“I like individuals with feeling; I am an emotional person, but I admire his tranquility.
“He’s played in the Champions League a few times and won the Cup. “I’d like to see him go inside.”
Amorim’s 14-month tenure at United ended with the lowest points-per-game average of any manager in the club’s Premier League history.
Amorim’s hallmark 3-4-3 was a fixture during his tenure at the club, but Keane believes the next manager’s gravitas is more crucial.
“You want someone to walk into a dressing room and, as soon as he gets there, the players say ‘here we go, we are going places,'” Keane told the crowd.
“Personality. You can talk about systems and tactics but you want somebody to go into that dressing room and get a grip of the players.
