Roy Keane has praised Manchester United forward Matheus Cunha following Sunday’s narrow 2-1 Premier League defeat at Aston Villa.
United fell short at Villa Park despite producing encouraging spells, with Morgan Rogers scoring twice either side of Cunha’s composed equaliser.
The Red Devils arguably controlled large portions of the contest, but defensive lapses once again undermined progress under manager Ruben Amorim.

Aston Villa’s victory keeps them firmly in the title conversation, sitting just three points behind league leaders Arsenal this season.
United, meanwhile, remain seventh in the table, showing improvement in performances but continuing to struggle for consistent results overall.
Keane delivers strong verdict on United forward
Cunha’s display caught Keane’s attention, with the former captain insisting the Brazilian is far beyond simply showing future potential.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Keane said Cunha’s equaliser was never in doubt, describing the finish as calm, confident and high quality.
Keane did note Cunha missed a second-half chance, admitting it was surprising but not enough to overshadow an impressive showing.
With Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo away at AFCON, Cunha is expected to play a crucial role for United, reports Football 365.
Keane, however, refused to excuse United’s defeat, highlighting defensive shortcomings that continue to cost them important points.
United have now conceded six goals across their last two matches, a statistic Keane labelled unacceptable for a top-level side.
He stressed that attacking improvements mean little without intensity, organisation and pride when defending collectively as a unit.
Despite the criticism, Cunha’s performance offered encouragement, reinforcing Keane’s belief that United possess a genuine attacking talent.
