Chelsea boss, Liam Rosenior has reportedly chose not to directly address Mourinho’s controversial response to Vinicius Jr.’s reported racist remarks.
The Blues manager did, however, talk about a period he was racially abused.
Vinicius, a forward for Real Madrid, accused Benfica star Gianni Prestianni of making a racial remark against him. Video shows that Prestianni said it while he lifted his shirt over his lips and Vini reported the alleged remark to the referee right away.
But after the game, Mourinho angered a lot of people in the football community by calling Vinicius’ celebration after his goal at the Estadio Da Luz “disrespectful” and then implying that the South American started the taunts.
Rosenior Commented On The Issue
In his press conference ahead of Chelsea’s next match against Burnley, Rosenior described the incident as “upsetting,” but opted to not completely address Mourinho’s reaction.
According to Football London, the Chelsea head coach said: “Again, it’s context. What I would say is regardless how a player celebrates, race should never come into it.
“That is an ongoing investigation. What I’m not going to do, I don’t know the context of the situation. I don’t know the context in which Jose said what he said, and I won’t make a judgement on it.
