Joan Garcia and Marcus Rashford received the most attention as FC Barcelona added new players to their team during the past summer transfer window, but teenager Roony Bardghji was also signed by the Catalans.
Despite arriving from Copenhagen for slightly more than €2 million, Bardghji’s registration has been delayed due to Barça’s persistent wage cap concerns. Unlike Garcia and Rashford, the club has only been able to register the 19-year-old on a reserve team basis.
Even before his transfer was official, reports in Spain suggested he may sign with Barça Atlètic. However, Bardghji has since clarified the record, as reported by Mundo Deportivo, during Sweden’s U21 camp in Halmstad.
“I don’t think I would have signed to play for the youth squad. I’ve played over 100 first-team matches and would not have accepted a transfer to a B team. That is something you invented. It is not true.
The teenager emphasized that his contract with Barcelona always included a first-team role.

No, nothing. The plan was clear to both the club and myself from the start. Being on the first team has been crucial since the beginning. Nothing said thus far is true. It has not harmed me.”
Bardghji also demonstrated appreciation of Barça’s financial troubles, stating that registration issues were not new:
“As many people know…” I’m not sure whether you can call it a problem, but they’ve had trouble enrolling players for several years. It has not just occurred this year. It has happened several times, and the club is struggling with it.”
The winger is confident about being available for Barcelona’s next La Liga match against Valencia on September 14th.
