Rooney Claims One Liverpool Signing Most Important Signing Of The Season

Wayne Rooney reportedly said Liverpool have made more important signing in Jeremie Frimpong than Florian Wirtz.

The Reds are set to clash with Bournemouth in the 2025-26 Premier League season match opener after spending more than £300 million on new arrivals in hope to retain their league crown.

Florian Wirtz signed for a British transfer record, Hugo Ekitike made a strong debut, while Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez were signed to fill the two significant full-back voids.

Alexander Isak might still be signed before the end of the window.

During his Premier League predictions on Match of the Day, Wayne Rooney made an intriguing assertion on one of Liverpool’s acquisitions.

According to TBR Football, the former England captain chose Frimpong over players like Wirtz when asked to pick the Premier League’s most significant acquisition this season.

Rooney was asked to give predictions ahead of the new Premier League season.

The 39-year-old was really rather courteous to Liverpool, even though he was an Evertonian and a legend of Manchester United.

In fact, Rooney selected Rio Ngumoha as the season’s breakout player, Mohamed Salah to win the Golden Boot, and Liverpool to successfully retain the league title.

What’s perhaps most intriguing, though, is that Rooney chose Frimpong as the season’s most important signing.

“Most important signing?” Rooney was asked.

“Jeremie Frimpong,” Rooney responded.

Frimpong was signed to take Trent Alexander-Arnold’s place at Liverpool.

Alexander-Arnold’s departure this summer was arguably the most high-profile in the Premier League.
