Rooney Blames Rashford For Man United Downfall

Wayne Rooney has reportedly Marcus Rashford is the one to blame for his very own downfall as the Old Trafford reject suggested that an ‘inconsistent environment’ contributed to his struggles for form prior to being sent out on loan.

The England international is presently playing for Barcelona after the Premier League giants concluded he was surplus to requirements.

With a career-high 30 goals for United in 2022–2023, Rashford seemed to have found his best form again. After receiving a lucrative new contract, he gradually fell in the hierarchy.

The 27-year-old was permitted to spend the second half of the previous season on loan at Aston Villa after regular playing time under Ruben Amorim proved difficult.

According to Goal, Rooney feels that a product of the Red Devils’ renowned academy systems should take responsibility for his failure to perform consistently enough, even though Rashford’s cause has not benefited much from United’s managerial changes.

United’s all-time leading goalscorer told The Wayne Rooney Show podcast: “I think the environment hasn’t been right but that is down to yourself.

“If you are not playing well or you get left out of the team then I think it is easier to blame the environment and whether that is right or wrong. I think that comes from how you apply yourself.

“In games we have seen with him where we know he can do more, we know he can run more – that is nothing to do with an environment.

“I might be wrong here, I really like Marcus as a lad and as a person but I think that is an easy one to throw at people.”
