Rio Ferdinand Offers Advise To Struggling £72 Million Manchester United Striker Rasmus Hojlund

Rio Ferdinand has offered guidance to struggling Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund after the £72 million star received poor press following his performance against Wolves.

The Danish forward, who scored ten league goals in his first Premier League season after joining from Atalanta last year, has only three in 28 league games this season.

The 22-year-old was replaced after 70 minutes of another ineffective performance in Manchester United’s 1-0 home loss to Wolves on Sunday.

In a harsh assessment of Hojlund’s current situation, Match of the Day pundit Alan Shearer described him as ‘damaged’.

However, Ferdinand, who won six league titles and the Champions League during his 12-year tenure at United, has advised Hojlund to’simplify’ his game and’strip it back’ to his talents.

On the Rio Present podcast, the pundit said: ‘He’s got to get hold of the winger and say, “This is what I require. When you’re in these positions, this is what I want.”

‘You need to break free from any contact and start sprinting.

That is the one thing I would tell any athlete who is suffering with confidence. Strip it back, simple and do what has brought you there. Reported By Daily Mail.

Owen Hargreaves, a former United midfielder, added: “I think the moments you see him struggle are when his back is to play.” So don’t put yourself in that spot all the time, spin.

‘The guy is one of the fastest players in Europe, by the way.

‘The problem is that he gets caught all the time and receives too many touches.

Hargreaves stated the struggling striker should model himself on Barcelona forward Robert Lewandowski.

Following Sunday’s setback, Hojlund was labelled ‘damaged’ by Premier League great Alan.
