Potential transfer agreed
Jarell Quansah has thrived since joining Bayer Leverkusen for £35 million in the summer, but he could return to Liverpool in the future.
The versatile defender departed the Reds in pursuit of consistent first-team action, which he has found in Germany. He also earned his first senior England cap, playing right-back in the Three Lions’ last World Cup qualifier against Albania.
Given Liverpool’s troubles this season, he might have gotten the football he wanted at Anfield. However, the Reds included a buyback clause in his deal to Leverkusen, so he might return at some point.
Matteo had just signed a five-year contract when the Reds, led by Gerard Houllier, grudgingly accepted an offer from Leeds United. Matteo told the Liverpool Echo: “I didn’t think I was going anywhere, but I didn’t think I was going to get the game time back.
