Reason Why Inaki Pena’s Barcelona Departure Facing Delays

According to Mundo Deportivo, while it is nearly clear that Inaki Pena will leave Barcelona this summer, every bidder linked with the goalkeeper faces the same issue, making the transfer impossible to complete.

The goalie has already said that Hansi Flick does not view him as part of his long-term ambition, and he does not want to impede the club’s goals.

As a result, Pena and Barcelona have reached an agreement under which he will renew his contract for one more season before going on loan.

His agent has already spoken with Deco, the sporting director, to arrange the specifics.

The deal ensures that Barcelona does not lose him for free, while also providing the player with the opportunity to play regular minutes that he is not projected to receive under Flick.

However, despite interest from multiple clubs, his transfer has not yet been completed.

Suitors struggle to create space for Pena.

Clubs such as Como, Celta Vigo, Galatasaray, and more lately Girona have all expressed serious interest in Pena.

Despite this, they all face the same challenge: they must clear space before bringing him in.

Some teams must sell an existing goalkeeper to make room in the roster, while others must acquire funds to comply with financial fair play regulations. Pena’s loan transfer will not be completed unless one of these clubs addresses its problem.

Barcelona and Pena’s camp expect movement shortly and believe the deal will be completed before the transfer window shuts.

They would want to avoid waiting until the deadline, but they are prepared for a late resolution.

Once the goalkeeper departs, Barça will finally be free to sign Wojciech Szczesny, who is scheduled to be available for the team’s third La Liga matchday against Rayo Vallecano.

Meanwhile, Pena is set to stay with the squad for this weekend’s match against Levante, where he will again act as a backup to Joan Garcia.
