Real Madrid Set To Intensify Talks For 22-Year-Old Target

Real Madrid are reportedly set to accelerate talks with Benfica in order to seal the deal for Alvaro Carreras before the start of the FIFA Club World Cup.

All that is left is an agreement between the two clubs after the player and Los Blancos established a complete agreement over personal terms.

In order to strengthen the left-back position this summer, the Spanish powerhouses have decided to go with Carreras over Alejandro Grimaldo.

Now that the contract is prepared and an incentive salary of about €9 million annually has been agreed upon, the emphasis is on settling on terms with Benfica.

According to Madrid Universal, the club’s management wants the agreement to be finalized as soon as possible in order for Carreras to join Xabi Alonso’s team before the preseason.

Carreras is expected to sign a long-term contract that would keep him at the Santiago Bernabeu until 2031. He is considered to be one of the best young full-backs in Europe.

The length of the contract and the offered remuneration both demonstrate Real Madrid’s faith in the player. As they have done with players like Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Jr., it also underscores their broader aim of acquiring up-and-coming talent early.

Negotiations with Benfica provide the last barrier, even though the player’s camp is completely on board with Real Madrid.

Carreras’ €50 million release clause has so far been maintained by the Portuguese team, although Madrid hope to lower the cost through performance-based bonuses or structured payments.
