According to The Mirror, Carlo Ancelotti will be replaced by 43-year-old Alonso, who will return to his former club as a head coach on a three-year contract.

Following their Champions League loss to Arsenal last month, Bernabeu directors met with Ancelotti and decided to go their separate ways.

During Ancelotti’s first tenure, Real Madrid also won the European cup. Their Champions League quarterfinal defeat this year and their unsuccessful La Liga title defense have signaled the end, despite the 65-year-old’s achievements when he returned to the Spanish city in 2021.

After Madrid host Real Sociedead on the last weekend of the season, Marca reports that Ancelotti will say goodbye to the Bernabeu.

As his replacement, Alonso will bring Alberto Encinas and Sebas Parrilla, two dependable assistant coaches, with him.

Last year, the Leverkusen manager led his team to an unbeaten Bundesliga season, winning both the league title and the German Cup, making him one of the most sought-after coaches in the world of football.

Despite only losing two league games, Alonso’s team gave up the crown to Bayern Munich on Sunday following a 2-2 draw with Freiburg.

This will be Alonso’s third managerial role having also led Real Sociedad’s B team for three years until 2022.

The Spaniard is at the top of Madrid’s wish list due to his success at Leverkusen, and in the upcoming weeks, it is anticipated that he will be named as their new manager.
