Real Madrid Request La Liga To Reschedule First Match Of The Season

Real Madrid have reportedly sent a request to Laliga to reschedule their opening match of the season as they are set for the FIFA Club World Cup semi-final.

The Santiago Bernabeu will host Los Blancos’ first gameweek clash against Osasuna on the evening of August 19.

Javier Tebas has so far been hesitant to agree to the Spanish Footballers’ Association’s (AFE) request that La Liga postpone the match in order to provide the Real Madrid players a suitable three-week break in between tournaments.

According to Madrid Universal, in a letter submitted this morning, Real Madrid formally asked La Liga to reschedule their opening game of the 2025–26 season against Osasuna.

In it, Los Blancos told La Liga that they had discussed the matter with Osasuna and the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and had decided on a new date for the game: October 29.

After resolving the issue with their rivals and the RFEF, it is now up to La Liga to choose whether they accept the proposition that Real Madrid have put out.

If the match takes place on October 29, Real Madrid will meet Osasuna just a few days after facing FC Barcelona, their bitter rivals, in the season’s first El Clasico of the campaign.

On the first weekend of November, they would play Valencia next.
