Real Madrid Midfielder Aims To Return From Injury Against Espanyol

Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga is nearing the end of his recuperation from an ankle injury incurred in August.

That was confirmed by manager Xabi Alonso this weekend, who stated: “Eduardo is at a similar stage to Jude; he can almost do everything.” He’ll be on the list shortly. The physicians have given him the all-clear.

Camavinga could come back against Espanyol.

Building on that, AS reports that Camavinga plans to return to play when Real Madrid faces RCD Espanyol later this weekend.

Although his latest training sessions have primarily been solitary, the former Rennes player has begun working on the pitch at Valdebebas and has even participated in some ball work with the team.

Within the club, the optimum date for his return to the squad is seen as the 20th, against Espanyol, assuming the player’s feelings are favorable.

Real Madrid is proceeding with care. After all, Camavinga’s proclivity for injury calls for caution. His last official match was on April 23rd, an away victory over Getafe.

The worst news came 24 hours later: a total rupture of the left adductor tendon, ruling him out of the Club World Cup in the United States (despite being called up for the semi-final loss to PSG).

Later, in August, just when it appeared that his agony was coming to an end, Camavinga suffered a sprain in his right ankle, complicating his recovery and delaying what appeared to be an approaching return.

The 22-year-old sensation was supposed to return for the encounter against Real Oviedo, but his condition worsened, delaying his return.

However, Camavinga appears to be on the approach of a comeback and might return to action later this week against Espanyol, but he will miss the Champions League start against Marseille.
