Real Madrid were booed as they lost 2-0 at home to Celta Vigo in a game that ended with nine men.
Celta were in the bottom half of La Liga heading into their journey to the Bernabeu on Sunday night, with no league wins over Real Madrid in 22 games.
However, Williot Swedberg’s second-half brace secured Celta’s first win over Madrid since May 2014, increasing the pressure on manager Alonso.
Real Madrid has only won one of their previous five league games and will drop to third place in La Liga if Villarreal wins their game in hand.

Real Madrid and Alonso suffered a humiliating defeat at the Bernabeu, losing Fran Garcia and Alvaro Carreras to red cards.
Alonso had high expectations after being named Carlo Ancelotti’s replacement in the summer.
The Liverpool icon had spent three years in command of Bayer Leverkusen and led the German club to a rare Bundesliga title in 2023-24.
Real Madrid had a promising start to the season, but the club has won only two of its last seven games in all competitions, falling four points behind La Liga leaders and arch-rivals Barcelona.
A disheartening defeat to Celta Vigo did not come at a good moment, as Alonso disclosed earlier in the week that he had spoken with club president Florentino Perez about the club’s poor form.
According to Spanish outlet AS, Real Madrid and Alonso view the Champions League match against Celta Vigo as a ‘crucial test’.
They do not expect the Celta Vigo loss to impact Alonso’s immediate future in the job. Following the defeat, Alonso stated, “We are all angry, evidently this was not the game we wanted, it was not the result we wanted.”
