Given the current state of Real Madrid’s team, it is unsurprising that the club is preparing major changes in the summer.
After all, the club is missing some key connecting parts on the field that would allow it to function as a coherent unit, particularly in defense and midfield.
Florentino Perez and his team are aware of the present squad’s deficiencies and are eager to make significant investments in the summer to improve the situation.
On that front, they have selected various targets throughout the park with what they believe are optimum characteristics.
The top two targets
As stated by Alberto Pereiro in a recent update, Real Madrid has decided which players are absolute priorities for the summer and will not be negotiated.

Los Blancos’ initial €100 million investment in June will be to strengthen the centre-back and midfield positions, with Nico Schlotterbeck and Rodri eyes as the two major fish.
The aforementioned budget will be split between the two players, and Real Madrid will want to recruit them regardless of any departures from the present group.
Schlotterbeck is estimated to be available for roughly €40 million, but Rodri will be more difficult to steal.
Any future purchases beyond the German-Spanish duo, however, will be determined by player sales from the present group, both in terms of who leaves and the money Real Madrid receives for the transfer.
If the club sells heavily in June, a third big-name acquisition is not out of the question. If not, the remaining transfers may have a lower profile but will be used to cover any remaining gaps in the side.
The team’s immediate and long-term projects will undoubtedly benefit greatly from the summer.
