Real Madrid Defender Sustained Hamstring Injury Against Marseille

Real Madrid won their fifth game of the 2025/26 season on Tuesday night, defeating Olympique de Marseille 2-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu, thanks to two goals from Kylian Mbappe.

However, the triumph came at a high cost for Los Blancos, as they were dealt two blows, one of which saw Trent Alexander-Arnold replaced minutes after begin.

Trent suffered a hamstring injury.

According to The Athletic’s Mario Cortegana, Trent Alexander-Arnold has a left hamstring strain.

The Real Madrid right-back will have tests in the coming days to ascertain the degree and severity of his injury.

Trent started the match against Marseille as right-back, ahead of captain Dani Carvajal. Trent grasped the back of his thigh in severe discomfort just two minutes after opening up to receive the ball from Thibaut Courtois.

Soon, the club’s medical department examined him, and Xabi Alonso had to replace him with Dani Carvajal.

Later in the game, Carvajal was forced off the field owing to a red card for headbutting Marseille goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli, which could result in a three-game suspension.

Trent’s hamstring injury is not yet known, but it is a major setback for the summer signing, who has had a difficult start to his Real Madrid career.

Since joining from Liverpool in June, the 26-year-old right-back has made ten appearances and provided two assists.
