Real Madrid Defender Sends Message Following Injury Concern

There were alarming sights at the Santiago Bernabeu as Raul Asencio sustained a serious impact during Real Madrid’s UEFA Champions League play-off second leg against Benfica.

The defender and teammate Eduardo Camavinga collided forcefully and unintentionally in the 77th minute.

The impact immediately caused concern inside the stadium. Asencio dropped down in evident pain, leading medical staff to come onto the pitch without hesitation.

A Huge Worry

The referee promptly implemented the head injury protocol due to the nature of the incident.

Doctors chose to immobilize the player on the field since the situation appeared to be bad enough.

He was carefully put on a stretcher after a neck brace was put on. Following a brief period of silence, the Bernabeu burst into cheers as Asencio was taken off.

A few of Real Madrid players looked worried. On the field, cameras caught nervous looks from teammates who were obviously afraid of the worst.

As the defender exited the pitch, fans yelled his name, making it impossible to ignore the tension inside the stadium.

Now according to Madrid Universal, the defender eventually wrote a statement in the early hours of the morning to comfort everyone. On social media, he provided supporters with an update, writing:

“Thank you for all the messages of support! It was just a scare!! Let’s go for the next round. Hala Madrid,” he wrote.

Madridistas who had feared a more dire outcome were relieved by such statements.

Asencio was discharged from the hospital after being monitored by doctors for a few hours.

Although a comprehensive medical report has not yet been released by the club, the initial indications are encouraging.
