Real Madrid Completely Enters ‘Battle’ For €70 Million-Rated Bundesliga Defender

Real Madrid’s plans for  summer transfer window have been obvious from the start. The center-back position was and continues to be their top emphasis.

With David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger’s futures in doubt, the need for a new presence at the back grows, and they had planned to pursue a free agent in June.

However, Dayot Upamecano and Ibrahima Konate are no longer viable possibilities, and Marc Guehi does not appear to have convinced the Merengues’ hierarchy.

In that regard, Borussia Dortmund’s Nico Schlotterbeck has emerged as a viable candidate.

Full-blown war

As revealed by SPORT in a recent update, Real Madrid has completely entered the race to sign Schlotterbeck next summer, fighting with Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and others.

After a time of ambiguity over whether Los Blancos would pursue a free agent or enter the bidding market, a decision was taken and a target was established.

Dortmund, on the other hand, will not facilitate any deal involving the player. They regard him highly and seek a cost of €70 million for his signing, putting a definite price tag on the Real Madrid target.

After all, the player’s contract expires in 2027, so there is no rush to organize a departure despite the stalled renewal talks.

So far this season, the 26-year-old has started 11 Bundesliga games for his side and kept five clean sheets, averaging more than 14 defensive actions per game.

He also makes five recoveries and completes 88% of his passes per 90 minutes.

He is thus an enticing target for Real Madrid, with the main question now being if Los Blancos can extend financially to fulfill the Germans’ demands.
