Premier League Net Spend Table Since Arne Slot Took Management At Liverpool

Despite making a slew of high-profile additions this summer, Liverpool’s net spend is lower than Arsenal’s, Manchester United’s, and even Tottenham’s since Arne Slot took over last summer.

The Reds smashed the British transfer record by signing Alexander Isak from Newcastle United, bringing their total spending to about £416 million, the most ever spent in a single window by a Premier League team.

Chelsea is the only other team to have spent more than £400 million in the summer transfer window, in 2023.

However, if you look at Slot’s expenditure through a broader lens, spanning all three transfer windows during the Dutch coach’s tenure, how does it compare to their competitors?

Liverpool’s expenditure under Slot now stands at little under of £450 million, thanks to big-money signings such as Isak, Florian Wirtz, and Hugo Ekitike. Reported By Planet Football.

Almost none of cash was spent prior to this summer, with only minor signings Federico Chiesa and Giorgi Mamardashvili (who was loaned back to Valencia) made in his first summer in charge. Chiesa made only one Premier League start last season, and the title was won with a squad almost entirely inherited from Slot’s predecessor, Jurgen Klopp.

Following a period of inaction, Liverpool has focused heavily on remaking the squad in Slot’s image. The club has earned more than £200 million in sales, with Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz, and Jarell Quansah commanding the highest payments, as well as significant sums for marginal players such as Ben Doak, Caoimhin Keller, and Tyler Morton.

Incredibly, Chelsea’s net spend stands at just £33million since last summer, putting as low as 14th in the ranking, below the likes of Fulham, Everton, Ipswich Town and Sunderland.
