Premier League Leon Bailey Completes Season-Long Loan Move To Roma

Aston Villa have confirmed that winger Leon Bailey has joined AS Roma on a season-long loan deal with an option to buy at the end of the campaign.

The Jamaica international, 28, will link up with the Serie A side who finished fifth in the Italian top flight last season under Daniele De Rossi. Roma see Bailey as a key addition to boost their wide attacking options.

Bailey joined Villa from Bayer Leverkusen in 2021 and has gone on to make 144 appearances for the club across all competitions.

Bailey Set For Fresh Start In Italy

The winger was a regular feature under Unai Emery during his early Villa days but found playing time harder to come by last season, particularly after suffering an injury that limited his minutes in the second half of the campaign.

Despite that setback, Bailey still played a crucial role in Villa’s memorable Champions League run, scoring and assisting in the last-16 tie against Club Brugge as the club reached the quarter-finals.

Roma have been busy strengthening their squad this summer and Bailey becomes their second signing from the Premier League after Brighton striker Evan Ferguson joined earlier in the window.

The move gives Bailey the chance to revive his form in Italy, while Villa free up wages to pursue late transfer window reinforcements, reports Breaking News.

If the deal proves successful, Roma have the option to make the move permanent at the end of the season.

Bailey will be hoping to make an immediate impact when Serie A resumes this weekend.
