Premier League And Nigerian International Keen On Playing For Man United

Brentford midfielder Frank Onyeka has revealed his desire to play for Manchester United in the future.

The Nigeria international made the comments while with his national team at the ongoing AFCON tournament.

The Super Eagles have reached the semi-finals, where they will face hosts Morocco later today.

Punch Sports in Nigeria reported that Onyeka was approached by Manchester United fan Hussain Vorajee during the tournament.

In a video, Vorajee asked Onyeka for his name and current club, before putting him on the spot about a potential move to the Red Devils.

“Yes, of course, I want to play for Manchester United,” Onyeka replied, smiling and open about his ambitions.

Brentford Career and Future Prospects

Onyeka joined Brentford from FC Midtjylland in July 2021, shortly after the club’s promotion to the Premier League. He spent last season on loan at FC Augsburg before returning to the Bees.

This season, Brentford manager Keith Andrews has given Onyeka only 88 minutes across six Premier League appearances, meaning he will need to impress to attract a move to a club like Manchester United.

The midfielder has less than 18 months remaining on his Brentford contract and is currently valued at €7m by Transfermarkt, reports Sport Witness.

Notably, Manchester United signed Onyeka’s Brentford teammate Bryan Mbeumo last July after lengthy negotiations with the London club.

Despite the timing, Onyeka’s comments were made in a lighthearted setting rather than as a direct transfer request, showing his excitement about the AFCON semi-final and the future.
