Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has vowed to leave the club if the squad size is not reduced this summer, as he does not want to have to leave players out of his matchday squads next season.
Rico Lewis, Savinho, Abdukodir Khusanov, James McAtee, and Claudio Echeverri were all missing from City’s 3-1 victory over Bournemouth in their final home game of the season, and Guardiola has stated on mirror that he dislikes leaving fit players out.
“I told the club that I don’t want that [a bigger squad],” Guardiola remarked “I do not want to leave five or six guys in the freezerand I do not want that, I am going to quit. Make a smaller team; I will stay.
“It is hard for my soul to inform my players on the tribune [stands] that they are unable to play. We couldn’t choose 11 players for three or four months because we didn’t have defenders, which was extremely difficult. People returned later, but it won’t be the same the next season.

When asked about the 29-year-old’s future, Guardiola responded, “We didn’t chat, and I didn’t talk with him. People don’t believe me, but these items are the property of the agents, the club, Txiki [Begiristain], and, in this case, Hugo [Viana].
“Both will make a decision on What will happen, but he must return to resume playing minutes. It’s not only Jack There isn’t a single player in my locker room, or in any locker room around the world, who enjoys not playing.
