Pep Guardiola insists Manchester City have not given up on the Premier League title despite dropping more points in a 1-1 draw with West Ham United.
City dominated the match at the London Stadium but were unable to convert their numerous chances into a decisive victory.
City recorded 24 shots during the match but managed only one goal, scored by Bernardo Silva in the first half.
West Ham equalised through Konstantinos Mavropanos, whose header from a corner cancelled out City’s advantage before the break.
The result leaves Guardiola’s side trailing league leaders Arsenal by nine points, although City still have a game in hand and must face their rivals later this season.
Guardiola confident Manchester City will return stronger
Guardiola admitted his team has struggled to match the standards of previous Manchester City sides that dominated English football in recent years.
He pointed out that despite controlling possession and creating chances, City have lacked efficiency in front of goal throughout the campaign.
The City manager emphasised that his squad must keep fighting until the end of the season, even if the title challenge becomes increasingly difficult.
He believes improving performances in the remaining fixtures will also help prepare the team for next season, reports Irish examiner.
City also face a huge challenge in the UEFA Champions League after losing 3-0 to Real Madrid in the first leg of their knockout tie.
Guardiola insisted his players must believe in a comeback and continue competing for every trophy available.
