Cole Palmer was named the best performer in the Club World Cup final by French outlet L’Equipe.
However, Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez received unexpected accolades for his heroics in the surprise 3-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain.
Blues manager Enzo Maresca oversaw a surprise victory over the European champions on Sunday night and was equally grateful for the services of two-goal Palmer and Sanchez, who made a series of remarkable saves.
Palmer scored a 9/10 from the famously tough markers for his match-winning performance, while teammate striker Joao Pedro received a 7/10 for another impressive appearance for his new club.
The much-maligned Sanchez, whose place as Chelsea’s No. 1 has been under threat since joining to Stamford Bridge in 2023, received an 8/10 after making six saves and stopping 1.35 goals, according to the stats experts.

Only Palmer improved his grade, and right defender Malo Gusto scored an 8/10 for his excellent martialling of PSG winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. According to the mirror.
L’Equipe’s critical eye is evident in their assessment of the Parisians, who had an uncharacteristically bad night, bringing a disappointing end to a remarkable campaign.
Kvaratskhelia was one of five Paris players to receive a 2/10 for an anonymous performance in which he took just one shot, one successful dribble, and won only two of his seven duels.
Other stars sheltering from the outlet included Ousmane Dembele, Nuno Mendes, Lucas Beraldo, and Joao Neves, who was sent off in the 85th minute for tugging Marc Cucurella’s hair.
