Osimhen Explains Why He Wants To Avoid Liverpool In Champions League Draw

Galatasaray striker, Victor Osimhen has reportedly claimed that Arne Slot’s team would want “revenge” and acknowledges that he wants to avoid Liverpool in the Champions League last-16.

The Turkish outfit barely survived against 10-man Juventus after a thrilling tie that saw them defeat the Seire A heavyweights 7-5 on aggregate after leading 5-2 in the first leg in Istanbul.

The Gala made their numerical advantage pay by scoring twice in extra time to lose 3-2 on the evening but advance to the next round after Juventus, who had Lloyd Kelly sent off, rallied to win 3-0 over 90 minutes in Turin.

In late September, Osimhen netted the game-winning penalty in Turkey to defeat Liverpool 1-0 in the group stages.

The Nigerian striker is eager to avoid a Reds team that, if they are drawn, he believes will be trying to settle a score.

Osimhen Tells Carragher He Wants To ‘Escape’ Liverpool

Speaking to Reds legend Jamie Carragher on CBS as quoted by Liverpool Echo, Osimhen, when asked who he would prefer out of Liverpool or Tottenham Hotspur, said: “I mean to be honest with you, meeting Liverpool now is going to be like some sort of revenge.

“Anyone we meet now… I wouldn’t say much but I would like to escape Liverpool.

“But if they come, yeah, we’re going to dig it out but it’s not going to be easy.

“I mean, this is Champions League, no team is easy, we can see how flying Bodo/Glimt are really doing in this tournament.

“If you want to win you also have to play the big dogs and make a statement for yourself.
