Leicester City have reportedly relieved Ruud van Nistelrooy of his managerial duties at the club following their relegation back to the EFL Championship.
The announcement was made just over six weeks before the Championship season begins. The Foxes will play in England’s second divison after being relegated from the Premier League.
After losing their first-team coach, Brian Barry-Murphy, to League One team Cardiff two weeks prior, Leicester have had a rough start to the summer.
According to talkSPORT, Van Nistelrooy left following increasing pressure on the club to take action.

For many supporters, the manager’s fate was virtually set months ago by Leicester’s terrible season-ending record, which saw them lose eight straight Premier League games without scoring.
Leicester’s hesitation to fire Van Nistelrooy earlier has been widely discussed. And there is a lot of conjecture that the decision will be postponed until the beginning of the next financial year in July.
This has mostly been ascribed to the club’s continuous PSR difficulties. The Premier League have now sent Leicester to an independent committee, raising the possibility of a points deduction for the next season.
It comes after Leicester successfully defended their position to escape sanctions in a drawn-out battle with the Premier League and EFL last year.
However, it is thought that there won’t be much space for such maneuvers this time.
