Nottingham Forest have left record signing Omari Hutchinson and former Arsenal star Oleksandr Zinchenko out of their Europa League squad.
Forest were permitted to name 25 players, but UEFA rules on club-trained players forced them to submit a reduced squad.
Ryan Yates is the only homegrown player available, leaving Forest short of the four required and capped at just 22 players, reports Daily Mail.
That limitation has led to some surprising omissions, including £37.5m midfielder Hutchinson and deadline-day arrival Zinchenko.
Goalkeeper Angus Gunn, defenders Jair Cunha and Cuiabano, plus striker Taiwo Awoniyi, have also been left out of the group stage squad.
UEFA Restrictions Cause Selection Headache
Forest have included several new arrivals, such as Dan Ndoye, Dilane Bakwa and Douglas Luiz, but squad depth remains unbalanced.
The omission of Zinchenko is particularly notable, with the Ukrainian able to cover both midfield and full-back positions.
Forest’s only specialist full-backs in the squad are Neco Williams, Ola Aina and Nicolo Savona, leaving depth concerns.
Players under 21 like Zach Abbott remain eligible for List B, meaning they do not count toward the quota.
Nuno Facing Added Pressure
Forest spent around £140m on 13 signings after finishing seventh last season to qualify for Europe after 30 years.

Their European spot was awarded after a CAS ruling against Crystal Palace, but expectations are already weighing heavily on Nuno Espirito Santo.
Reports of tension with owner Evangelos Marinakis were denied, though speculation around his long-term future continues to circulate.
Forest open their Europa League campaign against Real Betis on September 24, before facing Porto and Malmo.
