Claims that Andoni Iraola will make a bid to sign Alex Scott from Bournemouth are gaining traction, with the midfielder considered as ideal for his Liverpool squad overhaul, with TEAMtalk outlining why a move for the £60 million-rated ace might be viable this summer.
The Spanish strategist has already begun working at Liverpool’s Kirkby training center to restore the club to the pinnacle of English football.
After being named the successor to Arne Slot, who was fired after finishing fifth, Iraola will be under pressure to provide a significantly improved season at Anfield.

Part of the lethargy that developed in under the Dutchman may be attributed to a lack of physicality in the Reds’ engine room, with Slot’s squad being outfought and outmuscled far too frequently during the 2025/26 season.
With Iraola set to bring in at least one midfielder to try to reinvigorate that section of the team, speculation that he may bring his former Cherries star Scott to Anfield is gaining traction.
We reported last week that Scott is hesitating on signing a new contract at the Vitality Stadium, potentially opening the door for a summer move and, according to transfer writer Alex Crooks, deepening ties to Anfield.
Crooks told talkSPORT: “Yeah, that buzz appears to be rising, and you can see why because I think the midfield was an issue for Liverpool last season.
Liverpool can sign Alex Scott; here’s why
The 22-year-old Guernsey native has performed brilliantly this season, helping the Cherries qualify for European football and earning a spot in Thomas Tuchel’s prospective England team for the 2026 World Cup before missing out on the final selection.
He is regarded as one of the Premier League’s hardest-working players, averaging 6.14 recoveries per 90 minutes (88th percentile compared to colleagues in Europe’s top five leagues), 1.89 fouls won (88th percentile), 0.91 successful dribbles (86th percentile), and 12.18 defensive contributions (84th percentile).
A solid offer would undoubtedly give Bournemouth something to think about, though it may take a cost much above his current assessment to get them to cash in on the former Bristol City player this summer.
Along with Scott, strikers Junior Kroupi and Rayan are garnering a lot of interest, but the Cherries are keen not to have another big squad makeover like last season, when Dean Huijsen, Antoine Semenyo, and Illya Zabarnyi all left.
