Newcastle United Eye £66m Arsenal Target As Hugo Ekitike Alternative

Newcastle United are reassessing their striker options after missing out on Hugo Ekitike, who now seems likely to join Liverpool instead.

The Magpies had a £70 million offer rejected by Eintracht Frankfurt, prompting them to look elsewhere for attacking reinforcements this summer.

RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko has emerged as a strong alternative. Newcastle are impressed by his pace, height, and goal-scoring ability.

Sesko scored 21 goals across all competitions last season and offers a different profile compared to Newcastle’s current striker Alexander Isak.

With Champions League football approaching, the club remains keen to sign a forward to support Isak in the demanding upcoming campaign.

Leipzig’s release clause for Sesko is reportedly £66 million, which is lower than Newcastle’s failed bid for Ekitike last week, reports Newcastle World.

Arsenal were previously interested in Sesko but are now focused on signing Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres this transfer window.

Sesko’s agent, Elvis Basanovic, emphasized that the forward would only leave for a “special club with a special coach.”

Meanwhile, Newcastle are not expected to pursue Brentford’s Yoane Wissa due to age and potential African Cup of Nations absence.

As transfer negotiations intensify, Newcastle remain focused on securing the right striker for both present needs and long-term goals.
