Nick Woltemade has opened up about his fitness journey at Newcastle United after finally completing his first full 90 minutes for the club.
The £69 million striker joined from Stuttgart in August but had been eased into Premier League life by manager Eddie Howe, reports Chronicle Live.
His limited starts and early substitutions sparked fan speculation, yet the German forward has now revealed the reason behind his gradual integration.
Woltemade admitted he struggled with the Premier League’s intensity and suffered cramps during early appearances, but feels close to full sharpness again.
“That was the first game I could play without cramps,” he said. “For the first time in a while, I felt real energy.”

“I’m a striker; I want to take penalties,” he said. “Anthony did well, but I’m just happy we scored.”
After helping Newcastle secure back-to-back wins, Woltemade says his connection with teammates is growing stronger each match.
He added: “The energy in this team is great. Two wins before the international break give us massive confidence to push on.”
