Newcastle Handed Major Injury Blow Ahead Of Arsenal Clash

Newcastle United are reportedly set to be without one of their summer acquisitions when they play Arsenal in the Premier League this weekend.

With only six points out of a possible 15, the Magpies have not had the best start to the season. They also lost their first Champions League match against Barcelona.

Eddie Howe’s team have the opportunity to create a significant impression on Sunday when they play Arsenal at St. James’ Park, but they will need to find consistency if they want to contend for a Champions League berth this season.

With three wins, a draw and one loss in their first five games, the Gunners have had a strong start. Even though Mikel Arteta’s side are now five points behind leaders Liverpool, they believe to have plenty of time to catch up.

However, that depends on them having a strong run of play, and one of their more difficult games this season will be an away matchup at Newcastle.

The Magpies will have the same perspective on the match however, Howe is battling with an injury problem in his team.

According to London World, Yoane Wissa, a summer acquisition who cost up to £55 million to acquire from Brentford, will not play against Arsenal due to an injury sustained during his early days in the North East.

Howe confirmed ahead of Newcastle’s Carabao Cup clash with Bradford City: “He’s receiving treatment and no operation is needed.

“I think we’re looking at the other side of the international break. We hope he can be fit and available for that first game.”
