Gary Neville has urged Manchester United to choose the best candidate for the managerial position rather than Michael Carrick at the end of this season.
Carrick took over as head coach after Ruben Amorim was fired in January, a position he will hold until the end of the current campaign.
Since Carrick returned to Old Trafford, United have moved up to fourth place in the Premier League by winning five of their six games and drawing the other. They are now only three points behind Aston Villa, who are in third place.
The Red Devils defeated Manchester City and Arsenal, two rivals fighting for the title, in back-to-back victories during their excellent run of form.

Many have called for Carrick to stay in the position past the conclusion of the season as a result of United’s resurgence, but his former teammate Neville disagrees, saying that the player with the strongest resume should be given the position.
What Neville Said About Man United’s Managerial Position
“I think Manchester United have to pursue another manager right now around the fact of you don’t know how the results are going to go,” he told Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football show ahead of United’s 1-0 win at Everton.
