Napoli Schedule Talks With Conte Following His Criticism Of Struggling Serie A Champions

Napoli boss, Antonio Conte is scheduled to have urgent, decisive talks with the club management in the coming hours to decide his future following his harsh public criticism of the struggling Serie A champions.

The meeting is set to take place after Conte publicly questioned the “chemistry” and “desire to fight” of his team after their most recent loss, raising the possibility of a departure.

In order to discuss his future and the team’s poor start to the season, Conte has an urgent in-person meeting with the club’s administration arranged for the next few hours.

This important meeting comes after the Italian’s remarkably frank and critical remarks following Sunday’s 2-0 Serie A loss to Bologna.

According to football journalist Matteo Moretto as reported by Goal, Conte and Napoli management will meet on Monday afternoon to discuss how and whether to continue.

Conte’s public doubts about his team’s dedication and his own coaching efficacy prompted the discussion.

After Napoli’s fifth loss of the season against Bologna, the former Chelsea manager did not hold back in his post-match remarks.

Bologna won at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara thanks to goals from Thijs Dallinga and Jhon Lucumi, underscoring Napoli’s inability to replicate their Scudetto-winning performance from last season.

Despite having 51% possession, Napoli only managed one shot on goal as opposed to Bologna’s four.

What Did Conte say About His Team’s Poor Display?

Speaking after the game, Conte expressed profound disappointment. “We needed more energy in everything.

“What’s disappointing is that they showed more positivity and desire than us,” Conte stated, contrasting his team’s performance with Bologna’s.

“It should make us reflect. It’s the fifth defeat we’ve suffered this start of the year. It means we need to reflect, which we’ve already done.

“They played on Thursday and looked poisoned, we did our homework until the game was even.”
