The tournament is scheduled from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026, taking place in Morocco with Salah leading Egypt’s campaign.
Coming off his best-ever season, Salah recorded 57 combined goals and assists, helping Liverpool secure the Premier League title last season.
The Egyptian has become Liverpool’s third all-time top scorer and signed a new two-year deal, underlining his ongoing importance to the squad.
Egypt are guaranteed three group-stage games, which means Salah will miss matches against Tottenham (A), Wolves (H), and Leeds (H).
If Egypt progress, Salah could also miss fixtures versus Fulham (A), Arsenal (A), and Burnley (H), plus the FA Cup third round, reports Echo.
He may also miss a critical Champions League group match on January 20/21, taking the total number of missed games to eight.
Liverpool’s rivals will also be affected: United lose Mbeumo and Amad; City miss Marmoush; Chelsea will be without Nicolas Jackson.
Despite the setback, Liverpool’s summer signings were made with Salah’s AFCON absence in mind, preparing the squad to handle challenges ahead.
