MLS Player Nelson Dreams Arsenal Transfer After Beating Cancer

Jayden Nelson football journey is nothing short of inspirational. Diagnosed with a rare cancer as a child, doctors doubted he’d ever play.

At just 18 months old, Nelson battled a germ cell cancer that spread to his lungs. Against the odds, he made a full recovery.

Now 22, he stars for Vancouver Whitecaps in Major League Soccer, chasing trophies and a place in Canada’s 2026 World Cup squad, reports Give Me Sport.

After spells at Rosenborg in Norway and a loan at SSV Ulm in Germany, Nelson returned home in February to revive his career.

Since then, he has become a key figure for Jesper Sorensen’s Whitecaps, dazzling fans with his creativity, dribbling and relentless attacking play.

Nelson’s Gratitude and Determination

Reflecting on his past, Nelson admits his long hair serves as a reminder of the chemotherapy that once left him bald.

“It’s a symbol of strength,” he explained. “It reminds me of what I’ve been through and keeps me grounded.”

Inspired by idol Ronaldinho, Nelson plays with flair, aiming to excite supporters and “get fans off their seats” every match.
