Antonio Blanco joined Real Madrid’s youth academy in 2016.
Before joining Castilla and making his first team debut under Zinedine Zidane in 2021, the midfielder advanced through all development divisions.
He was initially sent to Cadiz since he was unable to establish himself with the senior team. He subsequently moved to Deportivo Alaves, where he played regularly after first joining them on loan.
Blanco Reflects On Real Madrid
The midfield player discussed the prospect of going back to Real Madrid, where he only made six professional appearances, in an interview with Estadio Deportivo as quoted by Madrid Universal.
“Honestly, I have never thought about it. I think several years have passed and I have not thought about going back either. I was already there and I had the opportunity, and I think I did things well,” he said.

“Now I am at another point in my career and another stage where I feel very good and very comfortable where I am.
“In the end, you never know what the future will bring, but I think I have to do well every weekend and in the future we will see what happens.”
Blanco also reflected on how difficult it is for academy players to reach Real Madrid’s first team.
“We always know that there are good players. The other day Valdepenas had his opportunity, but the circumstances also have to line up. The full-backs got injured and the coach also has to put you in.
“But as I always say, there are very good players in the academy. We also have, for example, Yusi, who comes from the academy, a left-back with a lot of potential.
“It is very important and very good for the club that young players with potential continue to come through.”
