Michael Carrick Rules Out Two Manchester United Players From Newcastle trip

Manchester United will be missing Lisandro Martinez and Mason Mount for tonight’s trip to Newcastle. Michael Carrick has been without Martinez since the match against Everton due to a minor calf injury sustained during training. Meanwhile, Mount has been out with an injury since the Fulham game and has just appeared once for Carrick.

Ahead of the game at St James’ Park, there was hope that one or both of the men might return to the squad. However, in an interview with MUTV, Carrick stated that the couple would not be traveling to the northeast. “Not particularly, really, no,” Carrick said when asked whether there was an update on Martinez.

“He will not be with us. He’s not quite prepared for that. We’ve got one or two that we’re trying to bring back, and Mason is coming closer, so it’s part of the game.

“They both weren’t feeling well over the weekend,” Carrick acknowledged. “We were thrilled to finish the game and certainly receive a fantastic outcome.

“We will give them every chance to recover and be well, so we’ll see.”We need to travel up, and we have tomorrow [Wednesday] morning, so we’ll see how they feel.” Carrick will make his return to Newcastle United, a club he holds dear.

United’s interim manager believes the Reds will have to be at their best to win. “It is nice, yes. It’s nice. Carrick expressed excitement about returning to the north east, stating that his family has season tickets and hopes to support them.

Obviously, I had amazing memories. I made my Premier League full debut at Newcastle as a youngster [for West Ham], so it’s interesting how things work.
