The Inter Miami star has impressed in the MLS this season, with 15 goals and six assists in 16 games, showing he remains in top shape.

Yet, as Argentina gear up to defend their World Cup crown, talk has emerged that Messi could return to Europe for stronger competition.

Fuel was added to the speculation when Messi was spotted visiting the home of ex-Barcelona teammate Cesc Fabregas in Italy.

Fabregas, now manager of Serie A newcomers Como, clarified the visit was personal but admitted, “You never say never,” stoking rumours.

Como are exploring transfer options and have been linked with Alvaro Morata, but Fabregas declined to confirm any specific talks.

Although Messi has made no official statement about leaving MLS, the idea of returning to Europe isn’t being ruled out completely.

With Argentina’s title defence looming, fans wonder if Messi will seek top-level action to stay sharp ahead of 2026, reports NDTV.

For now, Messi remains committed to Inter Miami and MLS championship but an European transfer move isn’t out of the question.
